Killarney bothered by Gremlins

HALFBACK Adam Upton was the best player for the Killarney Cutters as they went down 34-22 to Stanthorpe in the A-grade game at Charlie Andrews Oval on Saturday.

Stanthorpe led 16-12 at half-time in a physical game.

Cutters coach Tony Bryant said his side played part of the second half with 11 players after centre Fred Walker was sent off and Luke Phillipson spent time in the sin bin.

“It was a good hit out for the team,” Bryant said. “If we would have kept all our men on the field we would have been more competitive.

“I was happy with the effort everyone put in.”

Upton received great support from Ken Stoneman and Peter Giffin.

Bryant said halfback Jason Wilmot led many of the Gremlins’ attacking raids.

“Lock Allan Wetzler attacked hard all day,” he said.
