Killarney Cup race action at heats up

RUG UP for winter and head along to Allman Park for the annual Killarney Cup racing tomorrow.

Warwick Turf Club secretary Kristen Doyle said the event was looking to be bigger and better, with plenty of prizes to be won.

"Lots of people from Killarney support the event and we have a few bus loads of people come through the gates each year," Mrs Doyle said.

"It's one of our good days even though it is June and it's getting a fair bit colder than many of our other racing carnivals.

"The calcutta is being held (tonight) at the Killarney Bowls Club and anyone who wants to book a spot on the buses can book with Veronica's on Willow or Shirl and Sandy's.

"It's such a good event for the town with lots of the businesses involved and the calcutta generally draws a big crowd," Mrs Doyle said.

A non-TAB meeting, the Killarney Cup boasts five races from 1.15-3.50pm, with plenty of glamorous winter outfits expected for the Fashions on the Field event.

The one Southern Downs horse is Total Surprise, trained by Garry Schwenke.
