Killarney eyes off Inglewood in match of the day in the BRL

RUGBY LEAGUE: Inglewood captain-coach Brent Osborne has no doubt his side has to stop Killarney hooker Jamie Watts if they want to win the Border Rugby League game at Inglewood at 2.30pm Saturday.

Osborne rated lock Jamie Meddings as the best of the Inglewood Roosters by far in a 48-26 win against an improving Stanthorpe last weekend.

In the last game between Killarney and Inglewood, it was a 24-all draw.

Osborne said hooker Jamie Watts "was the man” for the Cutters in the last game.

He will be stressing to his team the importance of keeping Jamie quiet on Saturday.

"We will be far from full strength with both Brandon Sauverain and Nash Killen out with broken bones,” Osborne said.

Forward Brett Watts will travel from St George to play for the Killarney Cutters against Inglewood.

Brett has missed one BRL game and the Outback carnival due to suspension but will be back for the game between third-placed Killarney and leaders Inglewood.

Cutters president Aaron McKinney said he expected coaches Ray Wagner and Leejay Cooper would use Brett Watts in the forwards.

"Brett's brother Jamie will play, " McKinney said.

"It is rare they can both play in the same game due to work commitments,” he said.

Killarney missed the chance to move up to second after a 30-20 loss to Tenterfield last Saturday at Charlie Andrews Oval.

Centre Bradley Green was players' player for the Cutters with winger Rohan Keogh, hooker Jamie Watts and prop Ben McElhone outstanding.

McKinney said the game by McElhone was his best to date.

"He is improving each week and was strong in attack and defence for the Cutters,” McKinney said.

Tenterfield will host the Stanthorpe Gremlins on Saturday.

Stephen Savio was the players' player for the Gremlins against Inglewood last weekend.
