Killarney heads to Tenterfield for semi

RUGBY LEAGUE: The Killarney Cutters will head to Tenterfield for Saturday's Border Rugby League semi final.

Tenterfield Tigers finished second in the fixture season to earn hosting rights for the semi.

The winner of Saturday's game will play Inglewood in the August 26 grand final at Inglewood.

Cutters coach Ray Wayner said he expected to take a squad of 22 to Tenterfield.

"Hooker Jamie Watts will be one of our key players but his brother and back rower, Brett Watts, has been deemed ineligible for the finals as he only played three fixture games,” Wagner said.

"Halfback Mick Brackin and fullback Matt Cole will return after not playing last weekend against Inglewood.”

Killarney has two wins and two losses against Tenterfield this season.

"We beat them in the first and last rounds so have a bit of confidence,” he said.

"Our Friday night training run is important.”

Wagner said former Cutters player Coedie Tandy would be one of the dangers from the Tenterfield team.

"Coedie has pace to burn and is a smart footballer,” Wagner said.

"I am hoping a large group of Killarney fans head to Tenterfield to support the team.”

Tenterfield coach Brendan Minns tore a hamstring in the last game against Tenterfield but is expected to return for the semi.

"I hasn't been a problem at training but I will test it fully before the game,” he said.

"We will be at full strength for the semi, except for Farran Anderson who has a knee injury.”

Game starts at 2.30pm.
