Killarney kicks off Seniors Week

The Killarney Senior Citizens yesterday got the Seniors Week celebrations off to a flying start, with their Hot Luncheon so successful they were forced to turn people away.

People travelled from Warwick, Tannymorel and Legume to enjoy a warm winter’s lunch and the friendly hospitality of the Killarney branch.

Warwick Blue Care brought a bus load of clients in for the lunch and a number of people from Leslie Place in Killarney also attended.

“We have got new members today and a lot of people who have travelled,” she said.

Treasurer Jessie Volk said the turnout exceeded all expectations, with about 90 guests taking part in the hot lunch and enjoying a feast of rissoles, sausages, chicken and pasta.

She said the association was very pleased with the amount of generous donations and the Killarney school choir entertained the group after lunch.

The next event on the Seniors Week calendar is a Crimestoppers movie at 4pm on Sunday.
