Killarney player moves up to Fillies and Mustangs

RUGBY LEAGUE: Killarney player Nicole Weier has been selected in the South-West Mustangs women's team for the 47th Battalion Trophy.

Weier is playing her first season of rugby league after being in the Killarney Cutters leaguetag team last season.

She played league as a junior for Eastern Suburbs up to under-12s.

Weier is playing second row for the Toowoomba Fillies in the South-East Queensland competition.

"It would be good to go on from Mustangs to play for Central division," she said.

"I have always been around rugby league and I love the sport. I like to run the ball but do my share of defence."

She travels to Toowoomba each Thursday for Fillies training and has travelled as far as Miles for games.

Fillies have 13 players named in the 18-player squad for the representative carnival at Roma on April 30-May 1.

There are also five players from the Maranoa in the Mustangs squad. Alex Young is coach.
