Killarney striker fourth in the state with prolific shooting

FOOTBALL: Killarney teacher Louise Rolfe is equal fourth on the list of goal scorers in the National Premier League.

Rolfe and Shandell Doro are the two Southern Downs players in the South West Thunder team which is currently seventh in the NPL.

Both played for the Warwick women's team which made the Football Toowoomba grand final last year.

They play Thunder home games in Toowoomba at Clive Berghofer Stadium and are on the road to games in Brisbane and at the Gold and Sunshine coasts.

Both players travel to Toowoomba twice a week for training and sometimes head to training three times a week.

Rolfe plays as a striker and has scored 18 goals for the season to be equal fourth on the list of scorers.

She is three goals behind leader Brooke Barbuto from Peninsula Power.

Kelly Jenks (Peninsula Power) and Ruth Blackburn (The Gap) each have 19 goals. Shandell plays in defence for the Thunder and has one long-range goal this season.

Her younger sister Talitha plays as left back or striker in the NPL for The Gap team in Brisbane.

This season, Talitha has scored seven goals in 13 games.
