Warwick Daily News Christmas Stocking winner declared

KILLARNEY woman Joan Nicholls has taken out the Daily News Christmas Stocking competition, winning a prize pack worth $1500.

After a difficult end to the year, Mrs Nicholls said she hoped the win would turn her luck around.

"We're really over the moon with it," Mrs Nicholls said.

"We're away at the moment for my aunt's funeral and won't be back until Christmas.

"We've had so much tragedy since September that I hope now it's changed our luck and things will go right from now on."

Mrs Nicholls said two friends and her father-in-law had died since September, events which lessened her Christmas spirit.

"I usually do get in the spirit but I haven't sent Christmas cards and I haven't put our lights up, I just haven't been in the mood.

"When I get home I'll hopefully find some deserving families with kids to give any toys (from the prizes) and just go from there."
