Kindy earns straight As on new report card

THE Warwick Community Kindy has just received an early Christmas present - a glowing review under the National Quality Framework.

Assessments are being carried out on all providers and results will be listed on the My Child website, which is similar to the My School website that lists primary and secondary schools.

The My Child website lists childcare facilities in the area, results of assessments, vacancies and fees, in addition to a range of general information.

Nominated supervisor Jenny Drewett said the Warwick team were overjoyed to receive the highest rating they could across all seven assessed areas.

"This was the first time the kindy's been through it and we have been contacted to say we have received an "exceeding rating", which is the best you can get at this stage," Mrs Drewett said.

"We were hoping we would do well because we think we provide a strong education program and we were just chuffed with the result."

Mrs Drewett said there were many reasons the kindy did so well.

"We have uni-qualified teachers, constant staff and a lovely natural environment with grass, gardens and chickens - all of the very important things these days," she said.

"We also have a parent-run committee and are very involved in the community and work closely with support agencies like BushKids."

The kindy operates on a five-day fortnight program and now includes after-school care options for busy parents.

Mrs Drewett said the kindergarten helped transition children to primary school with a play-based program.

"We have 22 pre-preps and all these kids will go to school next year together and they all come every day together," she said. "They are really developing very close relationships and they talk about going to school together."
