Is that a knife in your pants? Man charged in Airlie Beach

A SOUTH Mackay man is facing a string of charges after allegedly going armed in Airlie Beach last night.

Police were called to Shute Harbour Rd, Airlie Beach, at around 10.55pm after reports a man had a knife in public.

Officers allegedly found the man pacing the footpath near a licenced venue with a knife protruding from his pants.

It is further alleged that, after speaking with the man, a search revealed a quantity of cannabis and drug utensils.

The 47-year-old has been served with a notice to appear in the Proserpine Magistrates Court on May 30 charged with serious assault, unlawful possession of a drug, unlawful possession of a knife in a public place and possessing drug utensils.
