Tactics clinch final for Knights

THE Cassels Knights side won the men’s grand final in Warwick basketball on Wednesday night at WIRAC.

The winning team beat ACF by 10 points.

New Queensland Basketball League player and Warwick State High School student Declan Starasts played for the ACF team which was unbeaten until the grand final.

Warwick Basketball Association president Lehi Clark said Cassels Knights played four men in the zone rather than five.

“The extra player followed Declan the whole game and limited his scoring opportunities,” Clark said.

In the reserves final, the Iguana side won from Tropics.

Regional schoolgirl’s representative Samantha Burton played the whole game and was a major factor in a runaway win against a Tropics side which hadn’t lost a game all season.

The association will start its next season with a muster tomorrow night at WIRAC at 6.30pm.

The reserves competition is being played by boys, 16 years and under, and the women.

Warwick has nominated an A-grade men’s team and two reserves team in the Ag Requirements Regional Basketball League.

Games will start in August with Warwick, Tenterfield, Dalby, Highfields and USQ teams along with some club teams in Toowoomba.

Prospective players are welcome to 6.30pm tomorrow or can call Clark on 0419 740838.
