Knitted works of art to take over the trees

IN JUST 11 short weeks the Warwick CBD will be transformed into a living knitted art gallery for the 11th annual Jumpers and Jazz in July Festival.

More than 100 handmade artworks will be installed on the city's bare trees.

Warwick Art Gallery staff is hard at work co-ordinating the signature event and major tourism draw card.

Art Gallery director Karina Devine said she couldn't wait to see the creative designs this year's artists come up with.

"We expect the optional theme fusion to be a challenge but anticipate that it will inspire our artists to create clever and beautiful entries," she said."

Ms Devine said there were a handful of trees yet to be claimed. "We would really like to see all 105 trees decorated," she said.

While the tree jumpers are a major drawcard Warwick Tourism and Events CEO said the action-packed workshop program, dinners, jazz music and other quirky events would draw many to the Rose City.

"The warmth, ingenuity and quirkiness of this festival will leave you with an event experience like no other," she said.

If you would like to enter a tree jumper in this year's festival you can download an entry form from http://www.jumpersandjazz.com. You can also pick one up from the Warwick Art Gallery on Albion St. View the full JJJ program at http://www.jumpersandjazz.com.
