Knitting their way to 2015 Jumpers and Jazz Festival
THE teams behind the Jumpers and Jazz in July Festival took a bit of the festival on the road to share the event's quirkiness and character with the people from the big smoke.
Warwick Tourism and Events CEO Tracy Vellacott and Warwick Art Gallery's Karina Devine and Loretta Grayson packed their Knitchen and headed to the Eat Street Markets in Brisbane at the weekend.
Mrs Vellacott said she was extremely pleased at the opportunity to promote the event.
"We received lots of interest in the Knitchen and really enjoyed the chance to talk to people who could potentially visit the festival," she said.
"The message was well and truly driven home by MC Chris Parsons from television program The Great South East over the two days.
"He told people to head west just an hour and a half, or two hours and discover the big sky country, the stars, the rolling green hills and the friendly locals.
"He talked up all the great events held in region.
"Let's hope his audience really listened and appreciated how easy it is to have a brilliant country experience as a couple or as a family, just down the road."
Mrs Vellacott is confident that the festival will continue to grow and that this year's event will be biggest and best one yet.
As part of this year's Jumpers and Jazz, the WTE team are working on a new regional winter dinner event on the first Friday night, as well as enhancing the Warwick Credit Union Stroll 'n' Swing with a Regional Harvest display and market.
"Off the success of Regional Harvest at the Brisbane Ekka, we see an opportunity to widen the message of agri-tourism, what is being produced in this region and how with minimal food miles, the produce from this and neighbouring regions gives a flavour burst that is truly delicious," Mrs Vellacott said.
The women's wellness event is also getting a makeover with a major announcement expected this week regarding the new format and the guest speaker.
In good news, the extensive draft program will be uploaded to the Jumpers and Jazz website later this week.
Locals and visitors alike are encouraged to get in early and book for their favourite and hopefully a few new events.
"We would also encourage locals to invite a bunch of friends to the region to celebrate winter," Mrs Vellacott said.
"To home host them.
"The VFR market (visiting friends and relatives) is a big one for this region."
Jumpers and Jazz will run from July 16 to 26
