Teen dies after music festival fall

A TEENAGER has died after tripping over other revellers and striking his head at a music festival in Western Sydney.

Police said the 18-year-old was running at the Knockout Circuz music festival in Homebush on Saturday night when he "tripped over the feet" of several people sitting on the ground and fell over.

The man suffered head injuries and was assisted by security guards.

Police were called after the man, who police said was drifting in and out of consciousness, became violent with a security guard.

He was restrained and taken to Westmead Hospital.

But police confirmed he died about 1am.

Police have set up a critical incident team which are investigating the death.

They have called for any witnesses to the incident to come forward.

The man was running on Riverina Ave, near the entrance to Hall 2 at about 10.30pm when he fell over.

At the same festival, police laid dozens of charges against revellers caught with drugs, including with one 17-year-old girl allegedly caught with 379 MDMA capsules.

About 16,899 people were at the festival with 298 people searched leading to 55 people being charged for drug possession.

"It is alarming to see two 17-year-old girls with large quantities of MDMA," a NSW Police spokesman said on Sunday.

Police also issued six supply cannabis cautions, two trespass charges were laid while one person was charged with failing to quit a licence premises.

Of those arrested, five people were allegedly found in possession of MDMA.
