Kookaburras need win over England

THE Kookaburras will be looking for their first win the World Hockey League Final after two draws in their pool matches.

They play England Monday(from midnight AEST) after a 2-all draw with Germany and a 1-all tie with hosts India in the pool matches.

Against Germany Australia led 2-1 after goals from Blake Govers (39th minute) and Aaron Kleinschmidt (49).

However, Germany equalised from a 58th minute penalty corner through captain Martin Haner to deny Australia.

Eddie Ockenden had his 300th international appearance in the match.

Man of the match Jake Whetton, who set up Australia's second goal, the Kookaburras has improved on their match with India.

"Germany are an outstanding team,” he said. "They put it to us in the first half and I thought we worked really well to get back into the game.

"We're getting into this tournament. It's a big tournament for us and we're really looking forward to moving forward now.”
