Ladies frock up for race meeting

IF PAST experience is any guide, today’s race meeting should feature a sudden cold snap, served with gusts of chilly air and occasional showers.

But the forecast is positive (frost then a day of sunshine) and besides, with it being ladies’ day, punters won’t let a bit of fresh weather keep them away.

Racegoers Cherish Wells, Rachelle Springate and Rachael Eddison were among those ready to throw on their frocks and head down to Allman Park for a spot of socialising and punting.

The trio said they planned to go for a number of reasons.

“I’m going because of the free entry for ladies,” Miss Eddison laughed.

“It’s also a nice excuse to get dressed up and catch up with friends.”

Miss Wells said when it came to a race meet, she wouldn’t let comfort direct what she wore.

“I’d always go for heels. Pain is beauty,” she said.

“Anyway, after a few glasses of wine, the pain dulls.”

All ladies enjoy free entry to Allman Park today, as well as free wine tasting as part of the Repco Ladies’ Day.

Gates open at 11am.
