KARTING: Peter Lane can't express his gratitude enough after Jamie Taylor from the Queensland Ambulance Service in Warwick organised an ambulance at short notice to enable the Rotax Pro Tour to be completed at Sandy Creek Raceway at the weekend.

"Karting Australia, our governing body, requires first aid assistance in attendance before any karting meeting can start," the Warwick Karting Club president said.

"Our first aid person informed us at 8pm Saturday that he wouldn't be returning for day 3 on Sunday due to unforseen circumstances which left the whole meeting up in the air."

Lane then rang Taylor at home to see if he could give advice.

"Within an hour, he had arranged the Queensland Ambulance Service to be in attendance for the whole day. The normal procedure to secure an ambulance on site all day is to apply a month beforehand," Lane said.

"It is refreshing to know that emergency services are able to assist at such short notice for something out of the ordinary.

"We will be writing a letter to the assistant commissioner to express our gratitude to Jamie and the Queensland Ambulance Service."

Mike Price from Inglewood was the ambulance officer who was on the scene on Sunday.

Event organiser Liam Meegan said he was happy with the running of the event.

"The Warwick club is keen to hold another series meet," Meegan said.

"We try to share the event around and the prospective venues will discuss possibilities for next year with the promoters," he said.

The meeting attracted 201 drivers, including seven from New Zealand.
