Last round of the regular cricket season

CRICKET: The last round of the Condamine Cup is shaping up to be a huge one for the teams entrenched in the top four positions.

As luck would have it, first placed Maryvale is up against second-placed Colts tomorrow at Slade Park from 10.30am while third- placed Redbacks take on reigning premiers Wheat- vale, which sits fourth.

In these games, each team has a great opportunity to have a sighter against the team they will face next weekend, in the first week of the finals.

Maryvale has had another stellar year, led by great performances from Dave Walker, Pat Bourke and Keiran Bourke.

The Colts have a fearsome side on paper and will look to win the premiership that has eluded them in previous years.

With a top four that includes Lachlan Gross, Maugan Benn and Geoff Thorley, with young guns like Jacob Gross coming up, they will be hard to beat.

The Redbacks, this season's surprise package, will be looking to go 2-0 this season against Wheatvale, but Paul Cantwell's team will be hard to beat after a blistering T20 competition final win last weekend.

Chris Cantwell is on fire and the Malone brothers are always damaging.

Either way, today's 12.30pm game at Slade Park will cement third place and favouritism for the first final.
