Late converted try seals win for Cowboys on an historic day for the club

RUGBY LEAGUE: Brodie Quirk, Morgan Taylor and some of their teammates made sure the Warwick Cowboys stayed on top of the TRL club championship with some last-minute heroics at Highfields today.

Winger Quirk had been the best for the Cowboys in the previous two weeks and no one was going to stop him when he saw the corner flag and a possible Warwick victory on the hooter in A-grade.

He scored in the corner, hooker Morgan Taylor converted after the hooter and the Cowboys were home 24-22.

Three wins on the day kept the Cowboys one point ahead of Pittsworth in the battle for the club championship.

A loss in A-grade or reserve grade where the Cowboys also won in the final 10 minutes would have put Warwick second in the battle for the championship.

The day was also highlighted by a record 273rd game for Cowboys reserve grader and today’s player of the match David Hallman.
