Late goals end Wolves premiership dreams in colts football
FOOTBALL: Two late goals by Wanderers ended the premiership dreams of the Warwick Wolves colts team in the Toowoomba grand final.
Trailing 1-0 at half-time, Warwick levelled with a Gift Lisie goal early in the second half.
The score remained 1-all until the final 10 minutes when Wanderers scored a lucky goal and then another to put the game out of the reach of Warwick.
Wolves team manager Garry Spence said the boys really put in a good effort.
"They were committed and competitive for most of the game. The Warwick game plan made Wanderers change a few things with their plays,” he said.
Goalie Alex Ebneter was outstanding for Warwick with some great saves.
Colts coach Tony Cooper earned great respect from the boys, according to Spence.
"Tony is a bit quieter than they were used to but was able to move players around the field and find where they were best suited.”
The Warwick junior grand finals were held today and star Warwick Wolves women's striker Louise Rolfe started the weekend coaching a team to a win.
She will be hoping for another win this weekend in the 10am Sunday grand final between Warwick and Willowburn in Toowoomba women's football.
