Later start to rodeo foreshadowed for NYE2018
REVELLERS packed into the Warwick Showgrounds on Sunday to farewell 2017 and usher in the new year.
Warwick Show Society president Gerard O'Leary said he was pleased with the turnout at the Steele's Bakery New Year's Eve Rodeo.
"There was a great display of fireworks and a trouble-free night at the showgrounds,” he said.
The one change the president has foreshadowed for the fourth annual New Year's Eve Rodeo later this year is starting the rodeo a bit later in the day.
"The rodeo finished a bit earlier than we expected,” he said.
The first fireworks show was also a little earlier than the planned 9pm start. There was plenty of dancing to the music of Mik Oberle.
Elbow Valley cowboy Luke Keogh works on a station in the Northern Territory but was home for the rodeo and won the Australian Station Buckjump Championship.
Tyler Aspinall won the ladies steer ride for a third successive year.
The day started with a fund-raising campdraft organised by Warwick's Miss Rodeo Australia entrant Ashleigh Grant which also proved to be a great success. Old Koreelah rider Andrew Peterson was the draft winner.
