Traffic delays at Cunningham's Gap

DELAYS are still being experienced on the highway at Cunningham’s Gap due to an earlier vehicle breakdown.

Motorists were held up for up to an hour and a half after a self-contained recreational vehicle (RV) experienced a mechanical failure understood to be related to its air-brakes.

The incident happened about 12.30pm, with the vehicle coming to a halt in the single-lane section about half a kilometre from the top of the Gap, where major repairs to the highway and the cliff side are being undertaken.

It is understood a passing B-double was able to pull the RV out of the single lane section, but traffic was again delayed when a tow truck arrived.

Main Roads have said delays will continue for a period while the backlog of traffic cleared.
