Warwick coach Matt Grew said his side wasn't too far away from a premiership victory.
"I couldn't have been more proud of the way the boys competed,” he said.
"We gave away some field position and didn't capitalise on our field position as well as we could have.”
"The bigger Valleys boys did a lot of work in the middle.
"The team really appreciates all the support we have received.
"Cowboys footy is very much alive.”
Warwick went into the game without second rower Will Dearden who broke his hand last weekend, a loss that Grew conceded didn't help his team's grand final chances.
In the early game, Gatton beat Dalby 24-0 in second-division with Warwick-based half Wesley Murray winning player of the match.
Rain started to get heavy during the reserve-grade game between Gatton and Valleys as fans waited for the 2.30pm kick-off in A grade between Warwick and Pittsworth.
Midway through the second half, Gatton led 16-4 in reserve grade.
