Engineers test out Morgan Park
THE brains behind the V8 Supercars switched to two wheels at Morgan Park on Friday.
Triple Eight Race Engineering is the V8 Supercars engineering team, with names like Craig Lowndes and Jamie Whincup on the books.
Triple Eight engine engineer Mark McVeigh took Morgan Park through its paces for some down time with about 120 invited motorbiking guests.
“What we do can be quite stressful so this is a way to blow off steam,” Mr McVeigh said.
“I've been to Morgan Park about 11 times. We were at the track for a bit of fun; we're all bike mad.
“The track here is awesome; it's quite a technical track.”
In the process of unwinding, Morgan Park took a couple of scales with Triple Eight race engineer Jeremy Moore taking a tumble.
He was uninjured but the same could not be said for his motorbike.
A 55-year-old man competing in the Motorcycle Sportsmen of Queensland's Southern Downs challenge was flown from Warwick Hospital to Brisbane's Princess Alexandra Hospital on Friday afternoon with serious injures after a motorcycle incident.
He was in a stable condition when transported by the Emergency Management Queensland chopper.
