Five-eighth the best for Wattles

FIVE-eighth Scott Murdoch was the players' player as Wattles went down 42-12 to Pittsworth in Sunday's rugby league at Pittsworth.

Pittsworth scored the first try and led throughout the game.

Murdoch was one of the Wattles' try scorers and organised the team well.

Matthew McCarthy was strong at centre and Jim Hegarty played well in the front row.

Wattles went into the game without 17 of their A-grade players for last year and lost backline star Tim Hentschel with a hamstring injury in reserve grade.

Hentschel was one of five players lining up in reserve grade to help the club out before playing A-grade.

Centre Justin Van Der Poel was man of the match as Wattles went down 38-28 to Pittsworth in the reserve-grade game.

Lock Luke Miller had another strong game.

Pittsworth beat Wattles 42-8 in the under-18 game.

Wattles have no footy this weekend as it is not involved with the President's Cup finals.
