Let's show some Warwick support for Water Rats women
SPORTSVIEW with Gerard Walsh
SOME weeks ago, I started encouraging rugby union fans to join me in vowing to do a little fundraiser if the Warwick Water Rats women didn't win the Downs sevens premiership this season.
Warwick Rugby Union president Andrew Williams was the first to join my little group and then it took one second to talk Leanne Brown into being part of it.
At her workplace Olsens Produce, I have stated that Brown is the best women's flanker to play for the Water Rats.
I was impressed with the quality of the Warwick play in one training session I watched. Many team members have achieved in other sports.
Show confidence in the team. Back them to win the Downs women's premiership and if they don't, we can have a Ratathon. Join by emailing gerardw@warwickdaily news.com.au.
The Ratathon is a bit like a revolving door - kick a goal from in front, run two laps, do 20 push ups, pass a footy into a drum and so on.
Let's get behind this team, games 12 noon and 1.20pm and hopefully a later final at Risdon Oval this Saturday before the men's B-grade game at 3pm.
This is the last carnival for the season then it will be finals footy. Semis in a fortnight and the grand final in a month.
