Liam wins monthly award after great start to 2017
LIAM Vickers has won a Daily News/Warwick Credit Union Junior Sports Star of the Month award after winning a silver medal in the Queensland State Sprints in swimming.
He was second in the 50m butterfly at the sprints.
This year, he won eight gold medals in swimming in the Darling Downs country championships, four in the 50m and four in the 100m.
At the last Southern Downs championships, he recorded nine firsts and set six new records.
Fast forward to the Darling Downs trials where he won nine gold medals, four in 50m swims, four in 100m and the 200m individual medley.
He captained Darling Downs at the state school championships in 10-12 years swimming and was a finalist.
This year he has already represented Darling Downs in the state aquathon championships and will compete in the state football championships in July.. Liam also competed for the region in the state cricket championships late in 2016.
