Life is all about small adjustments

SARA Farnham walked into her university open day without a clue as to where her talent for maths and science would take her, and left with a passion for the industry she now loves.

“Dad was keen for me to become a CFO at a huge company, but I knew I wanted to do something a bit more inter-personal, something that would help people,” she said.

“I was good with my hands and was leaning towards massage but when I discovered chiropractic at the uni open day, it just resonated with me.”

As of last weekend Dr Farnham is the new owner of Optimal Life Chiropractic in Myall Ave, when she has been an associate since June 2015.

“I came to Warwick at that time having been offered a job by then owner Dr Scott Wustenberg,” she said.

“I was working at a practice in the Barossa Valley in South Australia but had come to know of Dr Wustenberg after having health battles of my own.

“He’s a chiropractor who has a lot of further education in the fields of nutrition and bio-chemistry to help him manage his eldest daughter’s autism.

“I really liked that he went further.

“Instead of ‘Oh you’re tired? Here take a B vitamin’, he wants blood tests to make sure it’s actually the B vitamins that are needed or whether it’s something else, for example.”

When Dr Wustenberg’s associate in Warwick moved on and the position was offered to Dr Farnham.

She said she saw it as a great opportunity to further her own education and to add to her skillset.

“I treat by utilising manual adjusting, directed and specific soft tissue work and rehabilitation exercise where necessary,” she said.

“I loved the idea of coming here. It feels like familiar country to me and I’ve met some really good people here.

“I love the quietness of the place.

“And I like that it takes a little while to establish a name for yourself, but once you do you’re set.”

Dr Farnham said she and her partner Ben were excited to be expecting their first child in August.

“But we’ll still be open and running as usual, so come and say hello,” she said.

Optimal Life Chiropractic is at 26 Myall Avenue, Warwick.
