LifeFlight gets massive donation from Greymare

RACQ LifeFlight will benefit from $10,000 after a successful Back to Greymare day on Saturday.

There was great support from businesses and clubs for the auction in support of LifeFlight, a chopper service which has transported five residents from the Greymare area to major hospitals in recent years.

All recovered from their injuries/illnesses and patrons bid up well under auctioneer James Croft from Ray White Pittsworth.

A 30-year centenary autographed jersey donated by the Brisbane Broncos made $1000 and a purple cricket ball donated by Test cricketer Carl Rackemann and signed by Sir Ian Botham made $600.

Greymare Hall Committee president Matt Cleary said the support from businesses in Warwick and Toowoomba was great.

"They were generous in their support and it was good to give something back to LifeFlight, which is an organisation desperately needed in our area,” Mr Cleary said.

"In accident situations, time is crucial and as they are not totally government funded they need business and community support.

"In tough times, it is important family and friends come back to the district to support each other, it was a really good social day.”

He said it would be good for the Greymare community to have an Australia Day Cricket Carnival team and to see the oval and facilities being used.
