Light aircraft crash at Mackay Airport closes runway

A LIGHT aircraft had a nose wheel collapse on the Mackay Airport runway Friday night.

Two people were on board the plane however no was injured in the incident according to a post on the Mackay Airport Facebook page.

Staff at Mackay Airport were working with authorities to clear the runway as quickly as possible and return to normal operations.

Later in the evening, the Mackay Airport Facebook page reported the airport runway is now serviceable.

Operations returned to normal despite an expected delay to the two arriving aircraft due in at approximately 8.30pm.
