‘Lightbulb moments’ inspire new Glennie Heights teacher
WHILE the country life may not appeal to everyone, teacher Scott Clubb decided it was the perfect place to raise his young family with wife Emma.
The father of two completed his practical training at Glennie Heights State School last year and has returned to the Rose City in a permanent move.
The Year 3 teacher said he had received a warm welcome to the school and the community.
"The people are great, the school is perfect - it's such a nice, friendly atmosphere," he said.
The former chef completed his teaching degree last year, after his wife encouraged him to try something different.
"I started my teaching degree and have never looked back," he said.
"I just love all of it - when kids get that lightbulb or 'aha' moment, when they get how it's done, and you taught them that."
Mr Clubb said he first came across the Southern Downs during a coast to country trip with university.
"We travelled from the Sunshine Coast to Warwick, then Stanthorpe, Texas, Inglewood," he said.
"I really liked the area so applied to do my prac at Warwick Central State School in 2014."
During this time Mr Clubb was introduced to Glennie Heights State School principal Paul O'Mara.
"I then did my last prac at Glennie Heights last year before getting a permanent position here," he said.
Mr Clubb, wife Emma and daughters Annabelle and Scarlet have enjoyed the change in pace.
"We came from a unit complex at the Sunshine Coast to a quarter-acre block," he said.
"I will have to buy a mower though."
