Lighting up the Rose City community
CHRISTMAS lights have a tendency to bring families together.
This, along with the community spirit, prompted local Donna Cecil to get involved in the yearly displays.
"I did it when it first became popular in Warwick,” she said.
"Everyone did it, and it really boomed.
"We are family-oriented people, and for families to be able to drive around looking at lights is great, and it's something they can do as a unit.”
As is the case with a lot of families putting up light displays, Mrs Cecil's involvement started with just a few lights, before growing into a piece of art.
She has now been involved in light displays for 20 years, and welcomed a new addition to the arsenal this year.
"We have dressed a Ford Courier ute up with lights,” she said.
"A garden feature has been made out of it, and it looks special at night.
"Over the last two years we have mass Christmas trees concentrated on one area of the garden.
"They looked great last year.”
Despite being a short drive out of car, it hasn't deterred residents from enjoying the Christmas spirit.
"We always get a lot of cars coming past,” she said.
"Even in the middle of nowhere, people still get to see lights.”
Mrs Cecil said her family still enjoyed gathering and admiring the tremendous displays adorning Warwick.
"We still do it. It's a family thing we can do together, and it makes Christmas special,” she said.
"We pile in the car, drive around town and have a look.
