Lightning strike: Mackay region teen rushed to hospital

A TEENAGE boy was rushed to Mackay Hospital yesterday afternoon after a lightning strike at Mt Charlton.

A Queensland Ambulance Service spokeswoman said around 5pm, paramedics were called to reports someone had been struck by lighting on Mirani Mount Ossa Road.

"It appears the male teen was not directly struck but was nearby a lightning strike. He was nearby, around a machine at a private residence, when lightning hit and he felt the affects of it," the QAS spokeswoman said.

"He was okay but was taken to Mackay Hospital in a stable condition."
