Lightning strikes start fires in Warwick

A FIRE sparked during an electrical storm over Warwick has been caught on camera.

A spokeswoman from Queensland Fire and Emergency Services said firefighters were called to Activity St in the Industrial Estate about 7pm.

Initial reports suggested a telephone pole was on fire.

The spokeswoman said crews had reported there was a grassfire at the scene but they managed to extinguish the flames.

They had left the scene by 7.14pm.

Warwick resident Michelle Eastwell managed to capture a picture of the blaze after she saw the lightning strike through her window.

The QFES spokeswoman said it was not the only job firefighters had been called to tonight.

Multiple grassfires had been started by lightning strikes, including fires on Warner St near Newby St and Cunningham St near Leslie St.

All fires have been extinguished.

No one was injured and no structures were damaged.
