THE Circle of Life song performed by the cast of The Lion King has gone, well, full circle.

After amazing publicity over the launch of the Brisbane season of the huge Disney production, patrons of Virgin Australia Flight 0970 were given a full-on live performance.

The video has already had more than 1.3 million views and been mentioned on news sites around the country, and even in the US, including the Huffington Post.

It's the sort of publicity that promoters dream about.

"The people on the plane were lucky to experience the glory of this classic firsthand, but we're just grateful the whole thing was filmed so we can watch it over and over again,'' Huffington Post's story enthused.

"Seriously, this song never gets old."

The acclaimed live show will start its premiere season on September 26 at QPAC's Lyric Theatre.

It has been a decade since the beloved stage show first played in Australia at Sydney's Capitol Theatre.

Director Julie Taymor's vision of the African savannah comes to life in this locally-crafted production, featuring the most multicultural cast of any Australian-produced stage musical to date.

This Australian production is the 10th production of The Lion King running around the world, with shows on Broadway and on tour across North America, Tokyo and on tour in Japan, in London's West End and on tour throughout the UK, and in Hamburg, Madrid and Sao Paolo.

Auckland native Nick Afoa will play central character Simba, while South African performer Josslynn Hlenti will play Nala.

The cast also includes Aussies Rob Collins as Simba's father Mufasa, voiced by James Earl Jones in the animated film, and Josh Quong Tart as Simba's aggrieved uncle Scar.

Pre-sale tickets are available now, while general public tickets will be released on Friday.
