Lions roar into Warwick

STAR Brisbane Lions pair Simon Black and Mitchell Clark will be in Warwick tomorrow as the AFL heads west to boost spirits in flood-hit communities and meet budding juniors.

AFL Queensland development manager Keith Webb said Clark was the Lions’ top ruckman for the past two years.

“He was in the initial All-Australian squad in 2009,” Webb said.

Clark and Black, a Brownlow Medallist, promising forward Aaron Cornelius, Lions AFL player Jessie O’Brien and two of the club’s young guns Bart McCulloch and John Dyson will be in Warwick tomorrow.

Black played in three Brisbane Lions premiership wins.

The Lions squad is being split in a number of groups to visit the AFL Darling Downs area.

Captain Jonathan Brown is in the group visiting Grantham State School tomorrow.

The Lions players will visit Warwick East State School tomorrow, be at Steele’s Cafe and Bakery from 11am as well as meet Warwick High students, businesses and some homeowners in the flood area.
