‘Little’ attraction at a big market
AFTER a week of lingering cloud, the fog finally cleared on Saturday morning just in time for the Warwick Uber Markets.
One of the busier stalls at the market was Kim’s Itty Bitty Mobile Animal Farm, boasting chickens, piglets, lambs, miniature goats and guinea pigs.
Run by Kim Calver with the help of daughter Emily, the portable attraction has made its way all over south- east Queensland from its base at Mt Sylvia, near Gatton.
“We started out just as a family farm rescuing different animals, but we needed to have a bit of an income coming in,” Miss Calver said.
“We rescue all sorts of animals and the food was getting too costly so we thought we would try it out about five years ago now and it’s been a really popular thing for us.
“We can do up to eight events in one weekend, and we go all over the Darling Downs, Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast, Brisbane and even as far out as Roma, doing festivals, parties and fetes.
“During the week we also get called to daycare centres sometimes and nursing homes and the elderly people we visit just love it.”
Miss Calver said her animals had proved popular , particularly with young families in Warwick.
For those who missed out on the mobile animal farm, Miss Calver said she would be back again on July 31 for the final day of Jumpers and Jazz.
