IN A blur of colour, 32 tiny hooves and eight wet noses and curly tails made their way around a specially designed racecourse at the weekend.

The second annual Sandy Creek Pub Pig Races were held on Saturday and have been dubbed a success.

Committee member Peter Cuskelly said it was a fantastic day.

"Everything went swimmingly," he said.

"We raised between $15,000 and $18,000 in total.

"There was a fantastic crowd of about 440 people."

Mr Cuskelly said pig prices in the calcutta only got better as the day went on.

"The cheapest pig went for $90 in the first race and the dearest was Roger's Razorback Jnr in the last race that went for $300," he said.

"Craig Pentecost and Lynda Dean bought that pig and won about $1200 and $400 worth of prizes."

With names like Frankenswine, Rumpled Pigskin and Lawrence Springboar, the little pigs' racing efforts raised funds for the Wheatvale State School P&C Association, Warwick and District Disability Support Group and RACQ CareFlight Rescue.

Mr Cuskelly said Noah's Farm Thoroughbred Racing Pigs owner and trainer Kevin Kiley provided a great service.

"Kevin races pigs all around Australia but because the Warwick and District Disability Support Group is a charity close to his heart he was more than willing to be involved and is on board for next year already."

First-time race-goer, four-year-old Madison Harland, said she liked the pig races.

"My favourite is the green pig because it is pretty," she said.
