Littleproud dominates in landslide win
WARWICK-BASED MP David Littleproud has enjoyed in a landslide victory that saw him secure 54.6 per cent of the primary vote in Maranoa.
More than 26,000 voters placed Mr Littleproud ahead of his nearest competitor, Labor's Linda Little, who received just 16.6 per cent of the primary vote.
Behind Labor came One Nation with 15 per cent, Katter's Australia Party with 4.4 per percent and United Australia Party and Greens trailing behind at 3.4 per cent and 3.7 per cent respectively.
The victory came as no surprise to political analysts who considered it to be a 'very safe' seat for the LNP.
In Warwick the Minister for Agriculture held an overwhelming majority, ranging from 61.7 per cent on a two party preferred basis in Warwick west to 68.6 per cent in Warwick south.
Mr Littleproud received the most support in Goomburra, where he comfortably beat out the other candidates with 78.3 per cent of the ballot.
The minister promised the region he would increase funding for farmers, continue to strongly support drug and alcohol rehabilitation programs and prioritise policies that create economic growth.
