Live Action wary of Hairy’s Hobos in touch footy final
TOUCH: There will be plenty of fresh legs on the bench as Live Action and Hairy's Hobos battle it out for the A-grade premiership in Warwick touch tonight.
Each team has a squad of 13 and a maximum of three men can be on the field at the one time in a team of six. Three or more women can be part of the one on-field combination.
All four grand finals will be played on the touch fields at St Mark's Oval in Jackie Howe Drive.
B and D-grades are at 6.30pm with A and C-grade grand finals at 7.30pm.
Live Action will be without Australian rugby sevens representative and state touch player Emily Bass who is at home at Dirranbandi on holidays from The Scots PGC College.
Three of the young guns in the team, Blake Lollback, Brad Morrish and Nicole Hammett, will be part of many of the Live Action plays.
Live Action captain Grant Lollback said Kev Lowrey would be one of the players from Hairy's Hobos that his team had to watch closely.
"He used to play rugby league for the Texas Terriers and has plenty of ability," Lollback said.
"Matt Carey has speed to burn and Wendy Watson has played for Australia and is a consistent player at wing and good link for Hairy's Hobos."
Both sides will be chasing their first premiership wins, Hairy's Hobos have grand final experience as most of the sides have played finals touch under the name Jeff's Jokers.
This season, it is one-all between the top teams in head-to-head clashes.
In B-grade, Unleashed is a new team which boasts Gary Mauch, Neil Vickers and Phil Higgins as three of their experienced players.
They will play The Brew Crew which will get a lot of advice about their positional play from cricketers Shaun "Robbo" O'Leary and Maugan Benn.
In the C-grade grand final, Ian Christensen will play along with son Jake, daughter Amber and cousin Gary Christensen for the Crackpots side which has won D-grade.
The Rough Necks are a new team which came from behind the make the finals and then beat better-placed teams to make the grand final. Steven Blowes and Brenton Lee are two of the organisers.
Misfits will rely heavily on champion Warwick High hurdler Aimee Van Der Hulst and the Watts twins, Matt and Cameron.
They will play The Dinkles team with some players from the Redbacks Australian Rules club, including the Politch brothers, Andrew and Kerin.
Presentation in all grades will be at 8.30pm in conjunction with the grand final barbecue.
The barbecue is free for players and spectators. After tonight's finals, touch will go into recess until the muster in early August.
Prospective players welcome to the grand finals and to leave their names at the canteen/office for this year's second season.
