Local arts take the stage

LAST Sunday, Warwick Arts Council, in conjunction with the Empire Theatre, presented Everything Must Go, written and acted by Rachel Leary.

The play is a funny and poignant look at the world of an eccentric recluse, Nancy Browne, exploring the changing nature of Australian rural society as gets ready to move from her rural home.

"It certainly resonated with the audience because of its rural background," council treasurer Jenny Eldridge said.

"We were really happy with the event, and we have to be able to work in collaboration with Empire Theatre," she said.

Held at the School of Total Education Auditorium, Mrs Eldridge said an audience of 50 responded well to this unique.

The Warwick Arts Council wants to bring more shows to the Southern Downs and appreciated the assistance of the Empire Theatre.

"In the last few months we have been concentrating on local groups but we want to collaborate with other visiting groups as well," Mrs Eldridge said.

The Arts council will continue the Lunch and Listen programs during June.
