Local charity gifted grand new gazebo

THE Warwick Cancer Council branch has received a much needed new gazebo.

Best Employment donated the new portable gazebo to help out Cancer Council with their various fundraising events, which volunteer Ken Hartnett said had been a long time coming.

"It's been an idea for quite some time," Mr Hartnett said.

"Leanne Smith had been talking with us and wanted to spend some money as long as it was to stay here in Warwick."

With those stipulations in place, the Warwick Cancer Council branch was more than happy to receive the brand new gazebo earlier this month.

"At the time we had been trying to get one through with head office, before Best Employment gave us a helping hand," Mr Hartnett said.

"We've been using it for events and that sort of thing, we may use it for the Biggest Morning Tea later this month."

Best Employment is a disabilities employment service based in Warwick, and a new banner for the gazebo will recognise the group's donation to Cancer Council.

"Best Employment is really excited to be able to help out local organisations like Cancer Council," said Best Employment representative, Toni Park.

"We're very happy to be assisting in this way, and wish Cancer Council the best of luck with their future fundraising efforts," Ms Park said.

The gazebo will be used for the branch's many fundraising events, such as catering at the Australian Stock Horse Society competition at the Warwick Showgrounds this Sunday.

"It's a terrific help as far as our branch is concerned to be given a big gazebo for fundraising events," Mr Hartnett said.

"It's a good, sturdy structure and it's easier to set up which is good, and it's got our new banner on the side" he said.

"We'd just like to give a big thank you to Best Employment for their generosity and making this possible."

The Cancer Council Biggest Morning Tea will be held on April 28.
