Local cowboy competes on Coast
WARWICK cowboy Lucas Wilson will return from the United States for the APRA National Finals Rodeo on the Gold Coast on April 7-10.
The event was postponed in January due to flooding in South East Queensland.
Wilson, Mark Collins and Michael Maher are the three Warwick riders who qualified in the top 15 in saddle bronc.
After only competing early in the 2011 season on the Christmas Run in New South Wales, Victoria and South Australia, Wilson made it into the top 15 for the new season but has dropped back to 13th since flying to America.
Warwick riders Brock Mulhall and Fred Osman are in the bareback final.
In the 2011 season, Mulhall is in fifth place in the standings, while Osman is a late starter to the season after being in America.
They will compete in the finals at the Gold Coast Convention Centre where 400 tonnes of dirt will be placed on the arena floor for the rodeo.
The finals are on at the same time and in the same precinct as the 2011 Australian Surf Life Saving Titles.
Rodeo tickets are available from Ticketek or on www.nfrgoldcoast.com.au
