Local derby during week one of the finals
UPDATE: RUGBY LEAGUE: Most rugby league patrons from the Wattles and Warwick area would prefer to see the two sides playing later in the final but its official - Wattles and Warwick will meet at the weekend.
It is normal practice for the game between second and third to be on Sunday.
The good news for Warwick and Wattles is that the winner will be a minimum of one win away from the grand final and the loser will last at least one more week in the finals series.
Valleys won 44-28 against Gatton at Herb Steinohrt Oval on Sunday afternoon.
EARLIER: Warwick Cowboys players and officials will have to wait to this afternoon to see who they are playing in next week's game between second and third.
Goondiwindi beat Wattles 22-12 at Goondiwindi to secure fifth place.
Warwick won 60-10 against Brothers on a cold Saturday night at Father Ranger Oval.
The finalists are determined except for first and second.
Wattles is currently one point ahead of Valleys in first place but Valleys host Gatton this afternoon.
With Goondiwindi winning, Gatton now has no chance to make it to fifth place so will only be playing for pride.
If Valleys win this afternoon, they will secure the minor premiership and set up a local debry between Warwick and Wattles in the play-off between second and third in A grade.
If Valleys lose, Wattles will be minor premiers and Warwick will play Valleys next weekend.
Warwick lost second-division and reserve-grade game so missed the finals in both grades.
The Cowboys finished the season with a 44-18 win against Brothers in the under-18 grade. Second rower Felix Clarke scored three tries for Warwick.
