Local face keen to meet new preps

FRESH faced prep teacher at The School of Total Education Renee Locke is excited to meet her new pupils on Tuesday.

This will be the 27-year-old Warwick resident's first year at SOTE after spending the past four and a half years teaching at Killarney State School.

"One of the philosophies of the school is finding the child's gift," Mrs Locke said.

"We work closely with the student's parents towards the same goal and ideas for the well-being of the child," she said.

Mrs Locke said it was common practice for a state school to house up to 25 students per class, but at SOTE there is a maximum of 13.

"So far I only have eight students enrolled for prep."

Her time at Killarney State School saw Mrs Locke teach students from years one through to six, but her passion lies with prep.

"I'm really looking forward to working with a smaller class and getting to know the little ones' personalities and what makes them tick," she said.
