Lollipop job proves sweet for Sue

WHISTLE sounding and sign at the ready, the children of Warwick were not the only ones back to school this morning.

Central State School's lollipop lady Sue Fox was raring to take on another year donning the coveted fluoro vest.

Guarding the crossing on one of Warwick's busiest streets, Sue says she has to keep her wits about her.

"We have to patrol Guy St for an extra half an hour in the afternoon because of its traffic," she said.

Working in shifts both sides of the school bell Sue has a chance to familiarise and become an important part of the Central community.

"It's just about getting them safely across the road," she said.

Dedicated to her role for more than 12 months now, Sue looks forward to an enjoyable year ahead.

"I like it, it's a good job to have," she said.

Yesterday marked the start of first term for school children across the state.
