Long weekend traffic clogs highway
DELAYS are being experienced on the Cunningham Highway at Cunningham’s Gap due to increased traffic on the road in the lead-up to the long weekend.
A Main Roads spokeswoman said traffic was flowing under stop-go conditions, but delays can be expected into the early evening.
Some motorists have reported delays of up to 45 minutes.
Motorists are advised by Main Roads to take care and delay their journey if possible.
Work on a $40 million project at more than a dozen separate problem areas at The Gap, including landslide zones and road slippage areas, is expected to take until Christmas at least.
