Looking back on 50 years of rodeos

TO HELP celebrate 50 years of the Australian Pro Rodeo Association, the Warwick Show and Rodeo Society means to gather memorabilia together for display.

Pat Flynn said they would place the historic items on display in the old poultry shed at the showgrounds.

"I think there would be a lot of people out there with old photos or items," he said.

"We will hold a meeting and organise a committee.

"The 50-year anniversary isn't until next year so we will have lots of time to get organised properly. However, it would be nice to have some sort of a display for the rodeo this year."

Mr Flynn said many years ago there had been a display.

"It was down at the Horse and Jockey and it was very popular," he said.

"There are probably many famous saddles sitting in sheds that could be on display for people to see.

"There may be old programs floating around - anything to show people what it was like many years ago."

If you would like to be involved or have something to contribute, phone the Warwick Show and Rodeo Society on 4661 9927.
