Louis century takes Animals to win

MAN of the match Greg Louis hit 127 to steer Sovereign Animals to a win in the reserve-grade cricket grand final against Criterion CSD at Queens Park on Saturday

Batting first, Louis strode to the centre with his side 4-27 and hit 127 of the 195 runs scored while he was at the crease.

He hit 12 fours and six sixes and added 113 for the eighth wicket with Tony Morrisey who made 28.

James Jerome stood out with the ball, taking 3-33 off eight overs.

Tony Munro then rocked Criterion by taking the wickets of the top three, James and Jeremy Jerome and captain Shane Hooper, to have Criterion 3-11.

Dave Speedy then started a fightback with some solid strokeplay and at 4-49 was joined by James Richards who hit 38 off 16 balls, including a six which cleared thesquare leg boundary by 30 metres.

When Richards was bowled by Matthew Wagner, Paul Curtis joined Speedy and the pair took the score to 5-172 before Speedy was out for 67, his highest score in Warwick cricket.

Curtis was out for 56 with the score 7-195. The final three wickets fell quickly, two to run outs, and Criterion was all out for 202 to go down by 24 runs.

Munro was the best of the bowlers with an impressive 4-32 off eight overs.

Wagner conceded 34 runs in his first three overs as Richards hit out but fought back well to finish with 2-46 off 7.4 overs.
