Love was in the air for all but Jim Samios at the Belle Vue
LOVE was in the air for all but Jim Samios at the Belle Vue Cafe.
Having worked there for a quarter of a century, Mr Samios had front row seats to Warwick's local lovenest.
"Oh everyone went to the Belle Vue to court," he said, even witnessing a proposal over a milkshake.
However Mr Samios sold himself short, preferring to fill the stomachs and not the hearts of the local talent.
"I was too young, too silly and too shy at the Belle Vue," Mr Samios recalled.
Since he left 30 years ago, Mr Samios returns to his old stomping ground daily for lunch with good friend Joe Coorey.
"It's the best with capital letters," he said.
Mr Samios was also responsible for The Belle Vue's iconic industrial illustrations.
Painted by Audrey Parker "a very nice lady" and the wife of the manager of Christian Walker.
She wanted to paint something that related to the industry of the town also including apple picking.
"You don't just leave Stanthorpe out" Mr Samios said.
Mr Samios's dad the original owner of the building was also mentioned in a novel.
